Family isn't always what you want them to be, but they are what they are, and our roots grow deep, and our branches are strong.

Simon Poe, my older brother.   Simon has been a fixture on and off though my life.   We have had our ups and downs, sometimes some knock down drag out fights that left us both not talking to each other for months at a time.  Used to be Simons methods where over the top for me, he going way to far for the outcome.    But now that I am older, now that I have learned what is out there, and what I am protecting.  I understand his methods, and use them as my own.     Simon joined the military when I was still in high school, leaving me with our father and the family business.    Simon moved on in his career to become a Navy Seal, but the family calling was always there.   He hunted the world now though, killing creatures in countries I never heard of.   I never told Simon I looked up to him and regretted not being in his life more.   But we all have our own life, and own road.   We see each other from time to time, pick back up right where we left off till it's time once again to venture down our own path.

At least that is how it was.  Time has a way of taking things away from you, and time took my brother.  He died as he lived, defending the innocent, and hunting evil.  Though he left behind two young children without a parent to raise them, but fate has a way of helping as well as hurting, and my cousin Callie took the twins in and is raising them as her own. Sleep well Simon your lineage is in good hands.

SIMON POE

SEIJA NARIS - POE

Seija Naris, my wife.    When I first met Seija we didn't get along well.    See my dear wife is an angel, and literal wings and halo angel.  Not a fallen, but , more like an angel in waiting.   Seija isn't from this world, and hers is a lot different than our own.   God bestowed upon her world a hierarchy of angels to protect it.   These mortal angels as I called them where the royal line of her world.    Though the word mortal with them is also wrong.   They acquire their royal heritage by ascending.   Though mainly an Angel, Seija still has her mortal bonds.    And until those are shed in a way of selflessness, she will remain a mortal Angel.       Some might say.  "But Derrick, your a hunter, and have that relationship with God, what do you have against Angels? "   And my take is this. God don't give a crap, he created, he tried to keep us in line, didn't work, so, screw it, leave the worlds looking after to some underlings and go make a better one.    The underlings being the Angels.    And let's face facts, not all angels are cherry blossoms and smiles, no, as a matter of fact, most of them are assholes that expect to be obeyed because they are, what they are, and our creator gave them this task.     They have that sanctimonious authority about them that you just want to go and beat their pretty faces in with a large hammer.     And that was a hang up with Seija and I when we first met.   Still comes up every now and then.  She gets a bit on the holy roller side of things, and the fight starts.   But I love her.   She is everything I should be.   And everything I need.  I know one day she will do that one selfless act that will take her life, and her away from me so that she can fulfill her destiny.   But till then, I want to hold on as much as I can, and protect her as much as possible.

I didn't realize how little time we would have with each other, I made her my wife, and even settled down.   Though settling down and me became more me secluding myself away with Seija.    But time to time I was able to go on a hunt.  I enjoyed it even being away for a bit, till there was nothing to come home too.   In a battle between the immortals of Sejias world, my wife, Seija Poe, gave her life.   And ascended to become the ruler of her home.  Leaving me behind, leaving me were I can not follow.    Not till my dying breath.  And like all of us that want to see our love ones again, I will find her in the after and sit by her side.

CALLIE NOLAN

Callie Nolan.    My cousin.   My Project.   My Rescue Pet.     To describe Callie in one word.   Annoying.  After a mishap in California she phoned my brother Simon, who then made me go to get her.     When Callie and myself finally returned, Simon had vanished.   Black Ops mission, and was needed.   Leaving me with a little girl with a big mouth, and the idea she could do anything Simon or I could.    I didn't know what to do with her, I knew if she even attempted to take on what Simon and I had been doing, she wouldn't have her skin much longer.   So I did the only thing I could do.   Put her to work at my bar, and ignored her as much as I could.     One of the best things about Callie is she is a total opposite of me.   Where my demeanor, and all out dickishness tended to turn people away, Callies warmth and smile brought them in, making me money.     And like one of those... really ugly dogs, that has fleas and pees on the carpet, Callie slowly wormed her way in to my feelings.  I started teaching her the ways of our family, honing her skills.   She may not be able to do everything Simon and I do.   But she has the ability to turn off her feelings, and get the job done.    Though maybe with a bit more collateral damage.

Callie continued on, becoming more and more a central part of the Gator, and those that stopped in.   She grew more as a woman as well, letting go of some of her hunter  mentality, and displaying a ability to be a mom.   After the death of my brother Simon,  Callie took his two children in, and is raising them as her own.   She is  a God send, and even though I do not say it enough, I love and respect her.

ISABELLA NOLAN

Isabella Nolan.    Callies adopted daughter,  Isabella is a tempest in a teacup, she does her Hispanic heritage proud with the stereotypical crazy Latina.    Isa has been though a lot, she came to us after her parents death, just another wandering orphan in a world of kids without parents.  This place it's odd if you do have parents..  and if they died of natural causes that's even more odd.

Callie adopted Isa to help the girl at first, but then came to love Isa in her own way.  Callie never having been a mother had her problems, that compounded with the fact that Isa saw herself as a free person, and grown up at the age of 16.   Callie tried to discipline, but this world doesn't lend much to the ability to do that.   Which Isa used..  Only needing Callies love when she wanted it, and disregarding any type of parental, child structure.

I recognized something in Isa, she was a borderline psychopath..   Not only was she Hispanic, but she was a teenage girl.    Now some may say that most teenage girls are borderline, self centered, and egotistical.   But Isa was beyond that.   And she also had mutant abilities.    With a love to kill things, and the power to back that up, I took her under my wing, teaching her all I could about how to be a hunter.    Some have said that I care for the girl.   And I do, I will mourn her death when it comes with a drink, as I do all hunters that fall.   But I trained her, I have seen her love for the kill..  The girl is strong, smarter than she puts on, and cunning.   She's a predator.    When she falls, she will fall fighting.
